2009 New Jersey Schools of Character

Bartle Elementary School: 2009 NJSOC Honorable Mention

L to R: Joyce Powell-President, NJEA, Rachel Pasichow-Teacher, Joe Mazzola-Executive Director, CEP

Bartle Elementary School’s theme “Together in Unity, Creating a Community” exemplifies their school goals and beliefs. The staff at Bartle School believes that the development of good character in their students is equally important as teaching them the three R’s. Students, teachers, and parents of Bartle School actively engage in community service and leadership activities beyond the regular hours of a school day. It is the goal to provide all Bartle Students with the appropriate tools to help them navigate the complicated world and respond to challenges in a caring manner.

“Character education is a way of educating beyond the everyday academic curriculum. It creates an environment of pride and involvement for everyone in our school community. Having a focus on character education at Bartle School has not only made our school a better place, but our students better people!”
