Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) formed a Character education committee that would focus on cultivating positive behavior and providing an enriched environment in which students could blossom and grow. Central to the plan was the belief that smaller communities of caring individuals would eliminate the anti-social behavior that plagued LIS. The Lawrence Intermediate School staff intentionally engages in teaching their students to become young citizens with high moral and ethical standards. LIS has shown significant decrease in the amount of negative/poor behavior, much of which can be attributed to the implementation of Character education.

“My sons have learned to persevere through their challenges whether academics or friendships with more confidence. They are also recognizing their responsibility in the success as well as the success of their friends in these areas…” -- Peggy Di Tommaso, Lawrence Intermediate School parent
