2009 New Jersey Schools of Character

Sayreville Middle School: 2009 NJSOC Emerging School

Sayreville Middle School’s Character education mission statement is that each school in the district coordinates and provides leadership for the promotion of good character and opportunities to demonstrate core ethical values. Sayreville Middle School bases their character education program on the principles of Character Counts! and Fish for School! In their daily work the teachers and administrators at Sayreville Middle School promote a caring, helpful, and positive school climate by modeling core values in their interactions with students and colleagues.

“Our service learning projects at the middle school have motivated our school community towards positive climate changes and touched our disaffected students like nothing else ever has. I am grateful to the teachers, staff and administrators who have taken the time to create these projects and the changes it has made to our school climate.” – Doreen Consulmagno, Middle School SAC, District & Middle School Character Education Coordinator
