John A. Carusi Middle School: New Jersey Schools of Character

“Enter to learn, go forth to serve, building a better tomorrow for ourselves and our community”; this is Carusi Middle School’s declaration of Character Education. These words guide their faculty and support staff and serve as a pledge between the members of the Carusi community: the parents, the students, and the staff members. Carusi’s integrated curriculum is challenging through varied teaching and learning approaches. They build a caring and supportive environment through classroom and school-wide activities in order to foster emotional, social and academic success for all of their diverse needs. The mission of the Character Education Initiative is to use the resources of the school and community to help the children develop those positive character attributes needed to become responsible, caring, thoughtful, participating members of their families, their schools, their communities, and the democracy.
