2010 New Jersey Schools of Character

Pennsauken Campus of Camden County Technical School: Honorable Mention

The Pennsauken Campus County Technical School, affectionately called Penn Tech, strives to “foster strong partnerships between the school and the home/community and to teach an appreciation for the value of every individual”. In this statement, the “value of every individual” is a cornerstone phrase of the school’s character education programs and highlights the idea that every student should respect all others and become citizens of character throughout their lives. A phrase that adorns the front of the building, “He who hath a trade hath an estate”, signifies the value of the career education program to all who pass by. Career training and academic success, accompanied by character education, help students achieve their lifetime goals.

“Camden County Technical School is helping me to build confidence and self-respect. When I learn to respect my environment, it motivates me to have more respect for my home and myself. When I see other students reaching for goals that they were encouraged by the teachers and administrators to seek, then I want to reach those goals also.”  – Jennifer Cruz, Student
